Advent & Christmas at Central!

December 1st - After worship on the first Sunday of Advent, join us for a lunch in the Dining Room followed by Deck the Halls, our annual tradition of decorating Central inside and out for the Christmas season! All are welcome, and children and youth will have activities upstairs!

December 8th - We have a long tradition of innovative Christmas pageants, and this year's pageant is no different! Extra, extra! Read all about the birth of Jesus of Nazareth! Children and youth - take a look out for when pageant rehearsals will be (including a final rehearsal on Saturday the 7th!).

Then at 4 pm, come back for TubaChristmas featuring around 100 tubas and other low brass leading 1000 people in festive Christmas music! Donations from this event support our Wednesday Lunch program.

December 15th - On the third Sunday of Advent, come for Comfort and Joy:  Nine Lessons and Carols, featuring special guests Clara Osowski (mezzo soprano) and Gracia Grindal (poet.)  The service includes scripture, poetry, and music all focused on the holy story of the Nativity.  The service is at 10:30, and there is a lunch for all that follows.

December 22nd - Special guest musician singer/songwriter Peter Mayer joins us for the fourth Sunday of Advent. You are invited to draw closer to the manger with Advent and Christmas carols and a reflection on the world-changing meaning of God's coming into the world.

Christmas Eve

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 24

We offer two opportunities to worship together on this holy night:

  • 4:00 p.m. Twilight service with music led by our section leaders

  • 10:30 p.m. Candlelight service with music led by Central Choir.

The Giving Tree

This year, Central is sponsoring two families in need through the Department of Human Services. These families were chosen as they are going through a particularly rough time. They should be wrapped and labeled, and the receipt should be included in the packaging. To participate, people should pick up an ornament from the Christmas tree in the Friendship Room and then returned as soon as possible. We have committed to two large families, so participation at any level is encouraged!
