How do churches grow?
In 2024, most churches grow via 1000 seeds - conversations and connections by people who love their church and what to share what’s happening. Like forests, churches grow because thousands of seeds, nourished by the Holy Spirit, do their part to make something great.
Beginning now, we’re embarking on its project to plant “1000 seeds” in and beyond our congregation. No, we’re not planting an urban forest – at least not literally. We’re remembering that church growth happens because we all participate in making connections and telling people what we care most deeply about.
What does that mean? We have three goals:
Goal One: Make meaningful connections with 100 new people. This could be a conversation with a Sunday visitor, a connection with a community partner, an invitation to a friend, or more. Be intentional and invitational.
Goal Two: Two meaningful connections with each member and friend of Central. Conversations over fellowship, volunteering together, home visits, and more. We’re a family, and family stays connected.
Goal Three: Fifteen percent more people in worship. Worship isn’t the only way we connect, but it’s a central gathering spot where we’re formed for our work in the world. By attending to our connections inside and out, Sunday morning will continue to be the vibrant time it already is!
What can you do?
Two things! First, you can make a connection yourself! Had a conversation with somebody outside the Central community and made an invitation? Visited with a friend at Central, especially one who hasn’t been able to be here in person? You did it!
Second, let us know! We want to keep track and make sure we’re following through on our commitment. Just below you’ll find a box where you can send us a note about a connection you’ve made, and we’ll follow up!
Thank you! Church is all of us, each of us with a ministry of love and hospitality to share. Let’s do this together.
