Help Support Affordable Housing

As people of faith, we believe that all people should have a home! That is why we at Central are very excited to partner with Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative and support their plans to build a new, deeply affordable supportive housing development that would serve young families who are experiencing homelessness in the east metro.

We are grateful each and every time you join us to advocate for homeless families and individuals seeking a home and those who fear losing theirs each month. As noted in a recent e-Connect, home evictions don't take a vacation and have increased with the end of Covid relief money.

It is sad, but true, that our state homelessness and housing crisis has not been paramount in the minds of the MN State Legislature, even with a huge budget surplus. No party in Minnesota is prioritizing this crisis like they should be. We are disappointed to tell you that neither candidate for Governor, Dr. Jensen or Governor Walz, has agreed to attend the September 13 event, "A Vision for Home" presented by Beacon and 22 other housing organizations. We were ready for a public conversation with these candidates on the importance of home and proposals to solve our state's biggest housing issues, but they won't be attending.

We do not step back from our shared commitment to raise the profile of home this election season, even if the candidates for governor won't attend. Please join us in person or virtually at "A Vision for Home" to learn how to use tools for raising the importance of housing and building accountable relationships with those who are elected. To learn more and register for this event on September 13 from 7-8:30 p.m., visit the Beacon website here.

Thank you for being with us on this journey to help end homelessness.

Please join us in creating community awareness and the public will to make these homes a reality for dozens of young families in our communities.  For more information on Central’s collaboration with Beacon, email the Central office or call 651-224-4728 ext. 100 - and a member of the Beacon Leadership Team at Central will get back to you.
