June 17-21, 2019
registration now closed!
Last year we joined forces with the House of Hope Presbyterian Church to offer vacation Bible school. It was deemed a good success with our staff and kids working and having fun together. This year we are expanding the partnership! This summer Central will be partnering with Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in St. Paul to offer a fun vacation bible school experience for the children and youth of Central.
Vacation Bible School will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (700 Snelling Ave S, St Paul, MN 55116) on June 17-21, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Preschool through Grade 4: Open to children who are 4-years-old by September 1, 2019, through Grade 4, completed by June 2019.
Grades 5 & 6: Students who have completed fifth and sixth grade as of June 2019 are welcome to join Vacation Bible School as a junior leader.
Youth in Grades 7 - 12: Youth volunteers are needed to serve as crew guides and classroom assistants.
Easy and fun volunteer opportunities are available for adults to serve as preschool or elementary crew managers. Volunteers will not be teachers, but instead connect with children and help them navigate through each rotation. There is also a need for extra hands in the kitchen to help prepare snacks each day.
To volunteer, signup on the Gloria Dei website found here. Current needs are for someone to cover the whole week, plus others to do just Thursday or Friday.
Registration now closed.

About the Curriculum
In preparing for VBS, folks around the country using the ROAR VBS curriculum have been horrified to find elements that are culturally insensitive and deeply racist. When learning about these components as a staff, this was obviously extremely concerning and completely at odds with the faith community Central strives to be.
Because we are partnering with House of Hope Presbyterian Church and Gloria Dei Lutheran Church for VBS this year, we have been in touch with their children's ministry directors to ensure that significant editing has happened to address these concerns.
The children and youth ministries at Central aim to cultivate a faith in our young people that emphasizes compassion and justice, acknowledges the ways that we fall short as human beings, and seeks to follow God's call in the world. We are so grateful to all of you who are part of these ministries and this faith community, and for the ways that we hold one another accountable in love.
If you have any questions about this VBS program or about the children and youth ministries at Central, please be in touch with Katie Morris.
