Stephen Swanson

Steve Swanson is a freelance pianist based in St. Paul. He loves collaborating with choirs, vocalists, and instrumentalists throughout the Twin Cities. He began accompanying the Central Choir in 2011 and hopes he never stops. In his free time, Steve enjoys reading - superhero comics, novels, science fiction/fantasy, history, physics, and biology.

Steve obtained his Master’s degree in Collaborative Piano at the University of Minnesota, where he studied with Timothy Lovelace and Noriko Kawai. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he studied piano with Jay Hershberger. He also holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin. From 2006 to 2008, Stephen held the positions of choral accompanist and private voice/piano instructor at Prior Lake High School. He has accompanied the MN All-State Men’s Choir as well as numerous festival choirs.

He currently teaches private piano lessons at Mt. Olivet School of Music in Minneapolis and is a free lance musician around the metro.
