Maureen Smith came to Central in 1999 as a seminary intern, fell in love with the congregation, and counted it as a great blessing to stay on as a paid staff member until she retired at the end of 2015. She is still doing many of the things she loves doing, but with more freedom and flexibility.
She worked for many years at the University of Minnesota as a writer and editor before graduating from United Theological Seminary in 2001 with an M.Div. degree.
In early 2011 Dennis Reimer, a man Maureen dated 33 years ago, came back into her life, and in September they got engaged on the Eiffel Tower. They were married Sept. 15, 2012, in a ceremony at Central. They live in a house in Roseville. For Maureen this is her first marriage and her first house.
Denny’s daughter Melody has been living with them since she graduated from law school, and she is now working as a lawyer doing document review.
At Central Maureen loves leading the adult Bible study, likes leading in worship some Sundays and sitting in the pews with Denny other times, and tries to spot visitors and welcome them.
Maureen enjoys international travel, road trips in the U.S., Minnesota Twins games, movies, two book groups, and good conversation with friends.
